Places we have been:Growing up in south Georgia (Thomasville 1943-1961)
and living there again (1972-1975), I've seen most everything I wanted to see in
Georgia, Florida, and Alabama. After SCUBA training with the Thomasville/Thomas
County Rescue Team in high school I enjoyed exploring many rivers, springs,
caves and lakes in nearby states and spent a week SCUBA diving in the keys in
high school and was one of the original members of the GATECH Aqua Jackets SCUBA
Club in college.
Going to college at Georgia Tech
(1961-1965) and working at Lockheed-Marietta
on the C-5 Galaxy
(1965-1968) from 1961
to 1968 gave me a great opportunity to see other areas (Loved the
Smoky Mountain
area). Moving from there to Cape Canaveral to work at the Kennedy Space Center
just put me closer to places I loved in Florida. Moving from Florida to
Massachusetts was another culture shock- but I loved the opportunity. I had a
map of the northeast USA on my office wall and most weekends (and some three day
weekends) we just started to drive and see where we went. Explored most of the
states in the northeast US.
Moving to Louisiana in 1975 was another great opportunity. Arkansas,
Mississippi, and Texas were just waiting to be explored and since I love to
fish, Toledo Bend was fantastic.
Some of my favorite places are: See
